Welcome to the mid-month issue of our newsletter.  It contains a brief listing of events that will be coming up within the next couple of weeks.

6TH ANNUAL PRAIRIE FEST
TANDY HILLS NATURAL AREA IN FORT WORTH

Time:  10 a.m.–8 p.m.

Details: Log Cabin Village is taking log cabin living to the Prairie! There will be toys, games, demonstrations, and the chance to make your own prairie flor de papel (paper flower) to take home. There will also be live music, a silent auction, and an assortment of children's activities.

EASTER CONCERT IN THE PARK AND POOCH PARADE

Location:  Lee Park at 3333 Lee Parkway in Dallas
Details:  The Dallas Symphony Orchestra Community Parks Concert Series is a series of free outdoor performances by the Symphony in Dallas-area parks held throughout the spring. Led by Assistant Conductor Rei Hotoda, the DSO will peform light classical favorites from 3 p.m. - 4 p.m. to a backdrop of food and fun.

HERITAGE FUN AND KITE FLYING
AT NASH FARM

Cost:  $1/tractor rides, $2/kite

Details: Come bring your homemade kites and enjoy a day of kite flying!  There will be a limited number of kite kits available for purchase. When you are done with flying your kite, you can join in on sack races, play with heritage toys, and enjoy the farm.

WILDLIFE CAMP
CAMP TONKAWA

Wildlife Camp
Time: 9:30 a.m. on April 30 - 2:30 p.m. on May 1
Cost: $45 (children 17 and under)/$60 (adults)
Details: Come learn all about various forms of animal life in our part of North Texas. Bring your own tent, sleeping bag, plate, bowl, mug and utensils. You will also need to bring food for lunch (both days) - Saturday dinner and Sunday breakfast provided.


Additional Details:  Outdoor solar showers are available. Bring swimming attire if you wish to take advantage of the swimming pond.

Details: DFW Speech & Debate is committed to providing quality communications training to home-schooled students. Their goal is to train and equip students to communicate the Christian worldview boldly and persuasively to an unbelieving world. Speech & Debate sharpens students ability to analyze problems, think and listen critically, and express their thoughts fluently. It increases their ability to speak persuasively with poise and grace.

HSAA 2011-2012 CHEERLEADING INFORMATIONAL MEETING
RICHARDSON YMCA RICHARDSON

Time: 6:30-7:30pm
Location: Richardson YMCA, 821 Custer Rd., Richardson
Details:  Meet the coach and get all the details.  Females in grades 9-12, beginning Fall 2011 are welcome to try out for one or both seasons of football (fall) and/or basketball (winter).

Cheerleading Tryout Clinic Dates:  Attendance all 3 days is required.
Arrive at least 15 minutes early.  Sessions begin promptly at times below.
MAY 5: 6:30 - 8:30pm
MAY 6: 6:30-8:30pm
MAY 7: 1:00-3:30pm
Cost:  $25 (made out to HSAA)

Requirements:
1.  Completed HSAA Cheerleading Application (found on HSAA website)
2.  Copy of current Physical (physicals are valid for one year)
3.  Completed 2011-2012 HSAA Athletic Authorization and Medical Release (found on website)
4.  Bring: water bottle
5.  Wear:  plain white t-shirt(no emblems), shorts, tennis shoes, Hair in high pony tail.
No bangs, skirts, or jewelry.
6. Tryout day add: white ribbon or bow.

Location: Saturn Road Church of Christ - Youth Building (at Saturn Road and Kingsley) in Garland
Details: Cash only - please bring $1 and $5 bills, as change will not be made at this book sale. Items are $1 and up. Categories include major curriculum publishers (A Beka, Bob Jones, Sonlight, etc.) as well as age groups (Preschool, Jr/Sr. High) and general headings (Life Skills, Art/Music, Math, Science, etc.). Any homeschooler may participate in either buying or selling educational materials, so long as the established guidelines are followed.
