HEART of Texas Fundraiser:

100 for $100

As a home-school family ourselves, there is a special place in our heart to serve other home schoolers.

A little about us. We are a home-school family like you. We began home schooling our oldest in 1996. Since then, we have graduated four children and are currently home-schooling the youngest two: one is a junior in high school and the other is in seventh grade. So, we will be doing this quite a while longer, Lord willing! We love what the Lord has done for our family through home schooling, and we love sharing that vision with others.

We began HEART of Texas in 2005 to assist families with finding home-school information, support groups, and resources; and to assist support group leaders with serving the families in their groups. We wanted to be a connecting point to link families with what they needed to be successful.

In our 17 years of operation, we have never held a formal fundraiser. With the number of new home school families on the rise, we are now asking for your help.

We are looking for 100 people to assist us with a gift of $100 or more. This will greatly help us continue our efforts to advance home schooling, assist families, host regional events, and start a Scholarship Fund.

Many families have already contributed to this cause, and we are very grateful. Thank you!

HEART of Texas is a 501c(3), non-profit organization servicing North Texas home-school families and support group leaders. We are a volunteer-run organization with a volunteer staff and board, and we rely solely on donations and memberships to fund our activities.

We assist new families looking for information about home schooling, refer families to support groups and other resources, host a variety of regional events, and provide training and support to local support group leaders.

Additionally, we publish a newsletter, chock-full of field trip ideas and family events happening across North Texas (as we learn about them). AND now that everything is seeming more "normal" for the 2022-2023 school year, with more events are being scheduled (and not cancelled), we are getting back to our regular monthly schedule.

We also have an amazing board of directors serving with us, and each of them also has a desire to serve home-school families and help them be successful.

Our heart is to build relationships.

Our motive is to serve people.

Our agenda is Proverbs 3:27.

Your gift of $100 (or any amount) is 100% tax-deductible, very appreciated, and will be used wisely.

Thank you in advance for partnering with us in our mission to serve the home-school community of North Texas!

Blessings,

Dave & Anne Gebhart

Spring Things

"Is the spring coming?" he said. "What is it like?" ..

"It is the sun shining on the rain and the rain falling on the sunshine..." ~The Secret Garden, Frances Hodgson Burnett

Such a beautiful way to depict spring. I don't know about you, but after the extended wintry weather we had last month, I'm ready for some flowers to brighten my yard - and my salad bowl! When planning your garden, be sure to plant some edible flowers (organically grown, without pesticides or other chemicals) to use in your salad, or atop cupcakes.

Here are some instruction for a Spring Salad using edible flowers. Or make your own flowers with these vibrant Flower Crudite Cups or these cute Mini Salads.

Need a dinner idea to inspire you? Try this Pasta Primavera for a meal that is delicious, nutritious, and full of color. Did you know primavera means springtime in Italian?

And an Easy Rainbow Layer Cake for dessert, which uses colored icing instead of food color.

Need some ideas to keep your kids busy during the Month of March?

Bird Seed Bird Feeders Make a few of these cute feeders to hang outside for the birds to snack on!

Astronomy: What's in the March Sky? Kids are fascinated by the night sky. Teach them about the Big Dipper, which is easy to view during the month of March. The two stars that form the front end of the Dipper's bowl are known as pointer stars because they point directly to Polaris.

Here are 30 other Spring Craft ideas that are super cute and are actually things you will want to keep!

St. Patrick's Day is March 17

Each year our family makes a St. Patrick's Day meal of corned beef, cabbage, potatoes, and carrots, along with some irish soda bread. But, you don't have to make a big dinner to celebrate St. Patrick's Day with the kids. Here are some simple fun recipes and crafts you can make together:

St. Patrick's Day Rainbow Treat Bags: Rainbow treat bag made with Skittles Candy, Rolos and marshmallows.

St. Patrick's Day Mint Shakes- Green and minty!

Science/STEM: Golden Slime A fun Chemistry experiment that your kids will love!

Cupcake Liner Trees Use green cupcake liners to make cute trees to decorate your table.
