HEART of Texas Fundraiser:

100 for $100

As a home-school family ourselves, there is a special place in our heart to serve other home schoolers.

A little about us. We are a home-school family like you. We began home schooling our oldest in 1996. Since then, we have graduated four children and are currently home-schooling the youngest two: one is a junior in high school and the other is in seventh grade. So, we will be doing this quite a while longer, Lord willing! We love what the Lord has done for our family through home schooling, and we love sharing that vision with others.

We began HEART of Texas in 2005 to assist families with finding home-school information, support groups, and resources; and to assist support group leaders with serving the families in their groups. We wanted to be a connecting point to link families with what they needed to be successful.

In our 17 years of operation, we have never held a formal fundraiser. With the number of new home school families on the rise, we are now asking for your help.

We are looking for 100 people to assist us with a gift of $100 or more. This will greatly help us continue our efforts to advance home schooling, assist families, host regional events, and start a Scholarship Fund.

Many families have already contributed to this cause, and we are very grateful. Thank you!

HEART of Texas is a 501c(3), non-profit organization servicing North Texas home-school families and support group leaders. We are a volunteer-run organization with a volunteer staff and board, and we rely solely on donations and memberships to fund our activities.

We assist new families looking for information about home schooling, refer families to support groups and other resources, host a variety of regional events, and provide training and support to local support group leaders.

Additionally, we publish a newsletter, chock-full of field trip ideas and family events happening across North Texas (as we learn about them). AND now that everything is seeming more "normal" for the 2022-2023 school year, with more events are being scheduled (and not cancelled), we are getting back to our regular monthly schedule.

We also have an amazing board of directors serving with us, and each of them also has a desire to serve home-school families and help them be successful.

Our heart is to build relationships.

Our motive is to serve people.

Our agenda is Proverbs 3:27.

Your gift of $100 (or any amount) is 100% tax-deductible, very appreciated, and will be used wisely.

Thank you in advance for partnering with us in our mission to serve the home-school community of North Texas!

Blessings,

Dave & Anne Gebhart

It's Fall Y'all

"I'm so glad I live in a world where there are Octobers. It would be terrible if we just skipped from September to November, wouldn't it? Look at these maple branches. Don't they give you a thrill--several thrills?” ~ L.M. Montgomery, Anne of Green Gales

What would a world look like without Octobers?

No fall foliage. No chilly evenings to light a fire for roasting marshmallows. No pumpkin patches or corn mazes. No apple harvesting. No fall parties to celebrate the cooler temperatures. No time for migrating birds to fly to milder locals or for humans to prepare for the bitter cold of winter. No falling leaves to rake. No time to shop for Christmas. God knew what He was doing when He created the fall season, and I'm glad He did.

Here are a variety of pumpkin crafts to keep small hands busy.

Here is a recipe for some Buttermilk Pumpkin Waffles to add some warmth to chilly mornings.

Need a dinner idea to inspire you? Try this Pumpkin Black Bean Soup for a quick meal that is delicious, nutritious, and full of fall color.

One of family's favorite fall treat: Apple Cider Donuts These donuts taste like fall, and best of all they are baked! Great to enjoy with a cup of tea or coffee!

Host a Pumpkin Carving Party! Not sure how to carve a pumpkin? Here are some simple instructions. When you're finished, you'll have tons of seeds that you can then use to make a tasty snack: Baked pumpkin seeds!

Bird Seed Bird Feeders Make a few of these cute feeders to hang outside for the birds.

Astronomy: What's in the October Sky? Kids are fascinated by the night sky.

There will also be an Annular Solar Eclipse on Saturday, October 14! Watch this video to learn more about the best locations to be.

Have an abundance of acorns or pinecones? Here are several super cute Fall craft ideas that you will want to make and keep! Don't miss the candy corn wreath!
