Workshops cover a broad scope of topics related to high school and college prep, including college test prep, financial aid, scholarships, high school transcripts, dual credit, and much more!

HEART of Texas Fundraiser:

100 for $100

As a homeschool family ourselves, there is a special place in our heart to serve other homeschoolers.

A little about us. We are a homeschool family just like you. We began homeschooling our oldest in 1996. We graduated four children and are currently homeschooling the youngest two. So we are going to be doing this quite a while longer, Lord willing! We love what the Lord has done for our family through homeschooling, and we love sharing that vision with others.

We began HEART of Texas in 2005 to assist families with finding homeschool information, support groups, and resources; and to assist support group leaders with serving the families in their groups. We wanted to be a connecting point to link families with what they needed to be successful.

In our 17 years of operation, we have never held a formal fundraiser. With the number of new homeschool families on the rise, we are now asking for your help.

We are looking for 100 people to assist us with a gift of $100. This will greatly help us continue our efforts to advance homeschooling, assist families, host regional events, and start a Scholarship Fund.

Some families have already contributed to this cause, and we are very grateful. Thank you!

HEART of Texas is a 501c(3), non-profit organization servicing North Texas homeschool families and support group leaders. We are a volunteer-run organization with a volunteer staff and board, and we rely solely on donations and memberships to fund our activities.

We assist new families looking for information about homeschooling, refer families to support groups and other resources, host a variety of regional events, and provide training and support to local support group leaders.

Additionally, we publish a newsletter, chock-full of field trip ideas and family events happening across North Texas (as we learn about them). AND now that everything is seeming more "normal" for the 2022-2023 school year, with more events are being scheduled (and not cancelled), we anticipate getting back to our regular monthly schedule.

We also have an amazing board of directors serving with us, and each of them also has a desire to serve homeschool families and help them be successful.

Our heart is to build relationships.

Our motive is to serve people.

Our agenda is Proverbs 3:27.

Your gift of $100 (or any amount) is 100% tax-deductible, very appreciated, and will be used wisely.

Last Minute Christmas Gifts

the Kids can Make!

It's the week before Christmas and all though the house, the creatures were stirring and so were the kids!

Here are some gift ideas the kids can make that will not only give them something to do, but will give them an opportunity to show love to others with gifts they can make themselves!

Gifts to Showcase Your Child's Art

Artsy Dishware - Use a special ceramic pen to create art on ceramic dishware. This would make a great keepsake for grandparents!

Hand-Colored Scarf- Who would have thought you could make such a beautiful scarf with permanent markers!

Sandpaper Printed Flour Sack Towels - Simple technique to make a sweet kitchen gift.

Coffee Mugs -- Easy to make designer mugs!

Book of Kindness -- Instead of buying or making a gift, create a Book of Kindness, with an act of service on each page that can be tailor-made for the person you give it to. For a neighbor, it might be a coupon to rake their leaves. For a child, a coupon to skip chores for the day. For a mom or dad, a coupon to make dinner. You get the idea!

Edible Gifts

Homemade Hot Chocolate Mix: Just a few simple ingredients and you have a delicious gift for friends or neighbors.

Chocolate Covered Pretzels: These are so simple to make and much less expensive than purchasing them.

Chocolate M&M Pretzels:We make these every year for the cookie trays we make for the neighbors. M&Ms, Hugs, and Windowpane Pretzels. Simple, quick, and delicious!

Potato Soup Mix: We make these every year for the cookie trays we make for the neighbors. M&Ms, Hugs, and Windowpane Pretzels. Simple, quick, and delicious!

Reindeer Chow:: This looks great in a jar or clear plastic bag.

What About Dinner?

I know. With all the bustle of Christmas, family, company, and wrapping presents (!!) when is there time to make dinner! Here are some easy-peasy recipes that will help you be the Super Mom you are AND get dinner on the table.

Slow Cooker Chicken Pot Pie: Just 5 minutes of prep, and you can have six hours to focus on the holiday prep while the slow-cooker does its thing!

Slow Cooker Roast Beef and Gravy: Just 15 minutes of prep, and you can enjoy dinner in 8 hours! Serve with mashed potatoes and a dinner salad and you are golden!

Slow Cooker Egg Nog: A special treat to enjoy at the end of a busy day! It's cooked, so no worries abut eating raw eggs.

From our family to yours:

Merry Christmas & Happy New Year! -The Gebharts
